ANGLERS have rescued a 15-year-old deaf and blind Labrador from the river Wye in Hereford.
The pet, called Smudge, had gone missing from his home in Hunderton on Friday night but was rescued from the cold water of the Wye on Sunday morning.

Hereford and District Angling Association said anglers fishing the ABC Baits Winter League Match were able to pull Smudge free.
The group said Rory Jones and Rob Brennan spotted the dog in the water from the opposite bank.

They alerted the anglers that were fishing the pegs on the Hunderton side known as "the railings", just above the old railway bridge close to the children's playground.
Ant Taylor and Phil Amos together with other anglers then set about getting in the water and rescuing the dog.

Local residents then took care of the dog and contacted the RSPCA.
The association has now said Smudge is back at home recovering after the ordeal.
