A community hub that set up a men’s mental health group has appeared on a national television current affairs comedy show.

The Shad Chefs appeared in an episode of Russell Howard’s Good Deeds on Sky Max on Thursday, November 24.

The show looked at the creation of the Shad Chefs page and the community work they have done, including fundraisers for Carson Adams and James Murphy.

Earlier this year, the group launched a ‘Man Hub' to tackle male suicide after Nicolo Marchese took his life on May 20, 2021.

Speaking on their page, the Shad Chefs said: “When we set this page up we said that we wanted to show Shadsworth and the community as a whole in a more positive light.

“Let's face it, we've had some bad press as a community in the past.

This will go a long way to showing Shadsworth and the wider Blackburn community in a more positive light.

“The people of this community are salt of the Earth.

“Shad Chefs Man Hub is working wonders with the Men that attend this group.

“Just look at these men thriving on national television and opening up about some of their issues.

“We are massively proud to say that we have helped them do that.”

The group meets every Thursday night from 7pm-9pm at The Hub At Shadsworth in Rothesay Road, Blackburn.

You can also donate to the GoFundMe page for the group.
