A DRIVER has been banned from the roads after failing to provide a sample to police in Herefordshire.

Stepan Rodin entered a guilty plea to one count of failing to provide a specimen for analysis when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford for trial in November.

OTHER NEWS:

The court heard from prosecutor Andrew Mitchinson that the 43-year-old had, when suspected of having driven a vehicle, and when required to provide a specimen of breath to police for analysis during the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence in Hereford on May 25, failed without reasonable excuse to do so.

Rodin, who is of Green Lane, Hersham, in Walton-on-Thames, was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 24 months and fined £1,038, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea on the day of trial into account.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £160 and a £104 victim surcharge, and was offered the opportunity to complete the drink-driver rehabilitation course, which will reduce his ban by 24 weeks if successfully completed.
