A new sports bar, with the focus on pool, is planned for the heart of Hereford.
The planned Novello’s Pool Bar and Sports Loft – which will be above The Works stationery shop in Commercial Street – will be a “pool venue with a bar with occasional live music and recorded music”, according to a licensing application by John Meredith and Danny Gagg.
It will also have an outdoor smoking area with two tables and up to eight chairs “for people to sit around to have drinks”, though drinks will not be served here, the application says.
It seeks permission for live music up to 1am on Friday and Saturday nights as well as bank holiday Sunday and Mondays, and Christmas Eve, and until 2am on New Years Eve from 11pm until 2am.
It also wants permission to play recorded music and to serve alcohol and “late night refreshment” until late each day.

Recent photos on the venue’s newly created Facebook page shows it still being renovated inside.
The premises, formerly The Loft bar and nightclub, shares access from Commercial Street with Gilbies Bar & Bistro, which continues to trade as before.
