A HEREFORDSHIRE woman has told of 30 years working for the same care home.

Georgina Williams, 64, from Kington, had a celebration with colleagues and residents at the Garth residential home in The Square.

Mrs Williams started with the company on October 5, 1992, four years after it opened and worked as a cleaner for five years, before becoming a kitchen assistant.

Since then she has spent a quarter of a century in the kitchen of the home, first as an assistant and then as one of the head cooks.

She has seen many changes over the years, with the amount of residents growing from 12 when she first started to 33 now.

She said that she has met some great characters both in the residents and her fellow employees.

Mrs Williams said: "I've loved every single second of it, and made some great relationships with residents and their families."

Co-owner of the Garth Patricia Prior said that Mrs Williams has been a consistent help to her and everyone at the home.

She said that she is a constant cheering presence for the team and for the residents and an integral part of the running of the operation.

Mrs Prior said: "She's been amazing. Come rain or shine, Georgina is always here, ready to go with a smile on her face.

"I barely remember her having a day off sick in the thirty years she has been here.

"She's been an absolute rock for us all."
