A HEREFORDSHIRE high school has a new headteacher who is promising to make progress.
Julian Morgan will take on the role at John Kyrle High School and Sixth Form in Ledbury Road, Ross-on-Wye, which has over more than 1,000 pupils aged between 11 and 18 on its roll.
The school was left with an overall grade of 'requires improvement' when Ofsted inspectors visited on March 22 and 23 – downgraded from good at the last full inspection.
The inspectors' report, published June 16, said that while behaviour and attitudes, personal development and sixth-form provision were all judged as good, the quality of education and leadership and management were both marked as 'requires improvement'.

Mr Morgan believes his passion will bring the school up to outstanding.
"I am delighted to be in post as headteacher of John Kyrle High School and Sixth Form Centre," he said.
"This is my third headship, having spent time in Staffordshire and Wiltshire.
"I have also spent time as a regional director for a large multi-academy trust.
"My passion is headship, though, and I will work tirelessly to make John Kyrle High School an outstanding school.
"Our students and our community deserve the very best."
