A VISUALLY impaired student has hit the target in a UK shooting competition.

Nathan Keen gave a masterclass in the British Acoustic Shooting Championships, retaining his Junior Champion title.

The RNC (Royal National College for the Blind) student, 20, scored 585 out of 600 to claim the title in Wolverhampton.

Acoustic Shooters use air rifles fitted with photo-electric cells, which convert light reflected from targets into sound.

Shooters hear a constant tone in their headphones, which sharpens towards the bull's eye.

Nathan. who is partially deaf, admits it's a difficult sport, but wants to compete in more competitions following his success.

"It was a tough challenge with some strong competition, but I'm so proud to be the title holder again," he said.
