YOUNGSTERS in Leominster have been experiencing what school life was like in Victorian times.

Year Four pupils at Leominster Junior School were kitted out in Victorian costumes and found their teachers and classrooms had been transformed too.

During lessons the threat of punishments such as the dunce's cap and the cane kept everyone on their toes. In the afternoon children were allowed to play with Victorian toys, learning old songs and skipping games.

Nine-year-old Amie Hicks said: "We learned a lot and it was fun but a bit scary. It actually felt like we were really in Victorian times."
