PARENTS and pupils at a Herefordshire school that fought back from the threat of closure has been tidying up its grounds and opening a new wildlife area.
The wildlife area has been constructed to encourage pupils at Canon Pyon CofE Primary School to learn more about nature and parents have been busy with paintbrushes to give the school a boost.
Clare Tobin, a member of the friends of Canon Pyon school group, said: "We had two Sundays when the car park was full of parents who had given up their free time to spruce the place up and give the place a lift after the school closure saga."
The work was partly funded by the friends and pupils raising £2,000. An additional £1,000 came from the Sylvia Short Trust.
