A PARTYGOER has been banned from the roads after taking cocaine for the first time.

Nicola Evans admitted drug-driving when she appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

Police had pulled Evans over in her Seat Exeo on the A49 Greyfriars Bridge in Hereford at 10.45pm on February 17, prosecutor Mark Hambling said.

Evans was asked to take a roadside drug test and arrested when it returned a positive result for class A drug cocaine.

An evidential blood test in custody revealed she had 27 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood. The legal limit is 10.

OTHER NEWS:

Chris Read, for Evans, said the 50-year-old had been out to a party with friends the previous night.

"While at the party, one of her friends gave her some cocaine, and she says it was the first time in her life that she had done such a thing," Mr Read said.

"24 hours later, she felt ok in herself and thought she would be safe to drive. I am afraid she, like many others, has fallen foul of this lingering in her system."

Evans, who is of Holme Lacy, Hereford, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120. She must also pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
