A HEREFORDSHIRE charity that provides riding therapy to those with a disability or additional needs has reached a huge milestone.

Herefordshire Riding for the Disabled has been providing these sessions for 30 years this August.

The charity operates at a purpose built centre on the Holme Lacy College campus which was opened by Princess Anne in 1992.

A celebration is planned on Saturday August 20 with a tea party and open afternoon at the Holme Lacy Centre.

OTHER NEWS:

The charity runs sessions four days a week and offers subsidised group or individual sessions for those with a wide range of disabilities.

Hydraulic hoists are available for those that need help and a mechanical horse simulator is used for those for who riding sessions are not suitable.

Grooming and horse care sessions are also on offer with the opportunity to work towards RDA qualifications.

Centre manager Claire Chandler said: "It is amazing that Herefordshire RDA has reached its 30th year of helping people access riding and horses in Herefordshire.

"We are busier than ever, and it is great to see how the charity has developed over the years.

"We’d love to hear from those who have volunteered with RDA in the past or who may have ridden with us either on their own or with their school.

"Our 30th anniversary party is going to be a great time to recognise everything that RDA does."
