A HEREFORDSHIRE born producer, writer and DJ has left a heartfelt tribute to his much-loved mother.

220 Kid, whose real name is William Graydon, has been championed by BBC Music Introducing in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, grew up in Weobley and played his first gigs in the county.

He topped the UK singles chart last year with sea shanty track Wellerman, produced alongside Billen Ted for former Scottish postman and social media star Nathan Evans.

His much-loved mother Jane Graydon died after a four-year battle with cancer.

He has praised the NHS in Hereford and St Michaels Hospice, in Bartestree, who cared for her in her final days.

He also wanted to thank Marie Curie, district nurses, and Weobley surgery, as they too have been wonderful, he said.

Mr Gaydon left a heartfelt tribute on his social media in memory of his beautiful mother.

He said: “My beautiful mother has gone to join the angels in a better place after bravely fighting cancer for four years. She was truly wonderful, caring, fierce and loving.

“Her battle the last few years was superhuman. I think they only reason I achieved anything with my life was seeing my mum’s true determination and strength and trying to do her proud.

“You always see my dad on social media, but my mum was a one in a million. She spent her life caring for others, such as charity work or delivering meals to vulnerable people.

Hereford Times:

“She was fiery and wasn’t afraid to step in and tell someone to f*** off if they were in the wrong or being mean to anyone.”

Posting the tribute to his Instagram, he said the tribute would help him come to terms with the loss.

He said anyone who knew him mum would have been lucky to have known her, and her love and kindness.

He said: “Her life was truly incredible (including telling off Miami’s biggest drug king pin for having their shoes on a bar, she actually launched them across the room) toured with the world snooker, was an award-winning pudding chef, she even was a food taster for KFC, Pringles, and others so she will have affected your life in a tasty way (think she helped develop popcorn chicken haha).

“I don’t really know what to say or why I’m posting this but think it’s just helping to process it.

OTHER NEWS:

“I will really miss her telling me off, or shut up, her infectious laugh and her grumpy eye roll which we were all a victim of.

“Anyone who came across her was incredibly lucky to have experienced her love and kindness.

“A huge thank you to NHS Hereford and the wonderful nurses from the hospice who have supported my family and made her smile and feel so loved at the hardest time.

“My dad and my sister you are the best. Love you mum thank you for fighting so hard to be around a little longer.”
