POLICE are hunting for a suspected rapist after an attack was reported in Hereford.

Officers cordoned off the river path along the Wye near Asda in Hereford yesterday after a rape was reported.

Police could be seen at the scene, between The Lines and Greyfriars Bridge in the city, through the day after the incident was reported.

A police spokesperson said they are searching for a tanned, slim man, who is believed to be around six feet tall.

He is believed to have fled in the direction of Luard Walk or the Hunderton estate after the attack, which took place between 12am and 1.30am on July 31.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Peters, said officers are asking the public for help in identifying the man and are keen to see CCTV and dashcam footage from the Bridge Street, King Street, and Hunderton estate areas at that time.
