THE WHEELS are now firmly in motion for The Little Princess Trust’s brave team of cyclists heading to France for a truly memorable challenge.
A total of 37 LPT riders have put in months of training on the country’s roads to prepare for the London-Paris by Tour de France 2022.
The three-day trip saw cyclists leave Kingston Upon Thames on Thursday before covering more than 300 miles to arrive in the French capital on Saturday.
The Little Princess Trust team is made up of serious and social cyclists who will all be wearing the famous LPT purple colours to raise the profile of the charity’s work.
Each rider is also raising funds and it is hoped that thousands of pounds will come from the ride to support The Little Princess Trust’s free wig provision service and its funding of childhood cancer research.
Phil Brace, chief executive of The Little Princess Trust, is one of those eagerly looking forward to getting in the saddle for Team LPT.
He said the event is a truly unique cycling experience and the nearest anyone can feel to be treated like a pro for three days with fantastic support both on and off the bike.
Phil admitted the challenge to cycle the distance in the summer sun was a tough one but believes that the camaraderie among the riders and the reason for the ride will push them on towards the finish line below the Champs-Elysees.
Many of those taking part have a personal reason to ride, having seen a family member experience cancer.
Piers Collins is one such rider. His daughter Teiva received a wig from The Little Princess Trust while undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia.

Teiva has finished her treatment and is now an LPT ambassador who bravely recounts her own experience to promote our free wig provision service while also explaining to journalists and her social media followers why she believes more childhood cancer research funding is needed.
Piers, who has previously run a marathon, is understandably determined to get across the finish line and raise as much money as possible for LPT to support the causes we all share so passionately.
