A MAN in his 20s was killed after being hit by a train in Malvern.

British Transport Police confirmed this week that the person hit at the Jamaica Road crossing on June 24 was a 27-year-old man.

They did not confirm the man's name, but said a report for the coroner had been prepared.

Flowers were left at the foot of the steps to the railway crossing, with one card saying "Beans – rest easy bro. Gonna miss you and our memories".

British Transport Police and West Mercia Police were called to the level crossing on Jamaica Road on the morning of Friday, June 24, after a man was struck by a train.

At the time, a BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line in Malvern at 9.27am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene."

They said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and that a file will be prepared for the coroner.

A West Midands Ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.32am to reports of an incident on the tracks off Jamaica Road in Malvern.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a BASICS emergency doctor and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a man. Unfortunately, it immediately became clear that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased."
