A HEREFORD shopkeeper has been left angry and upset after the beautiful flower displays outside her shop were destroyed.

Boutique owner Cherry Savidge said the flower boxes outside her East Street shop were hit by vandals on Sunday afternoon, with plants ripped out by two young men.

Ms Savidge said she had planted a total of six window boxes with pink dianthus outside her shop, but that she was now having to start from scratch after four were stripped bare at around 4pm.

"They were just beautiful and an absolute joy," Ms Savidge said.

"We would get people coming into the shop saying how beautiful they were and how lovely they smelled."

A neighbour chased the two young men, who were wearing grey hoodies, from the shopfront, Ms Savidge said, but by then the damage had been done.

"We spent hours on them," Ms Savidge said, explaining that she had also planted up matching window boxes for her neighbour.

"They have not touched two of them as I think they were working their way up the street.

"If they are doing that on a Sunday afternoon, then are they going to be throwing bricks through a window next?"

Ms Savidge, who said the plants would cost around £200 to replace, said her neighbour had attempted to report the matter but had not been able to get in touch with police.
