MANY long-standing events due to take place in Hereford were cancelled over the Covid pandemic, but this summer they are making a comeback.

From music festivals to fetes there is a lot going on ran by Herefordshire people.

Here’s a list of the events making a comeback:

Ledbury Celebration

The Ledbury Celebration celebrates the local food and drink of Herefordshire and its neighbouring counties with an added menu of music, poetry, and our historic heritage.

Returning on Sunday, July 10, this year’s event brings an outdoor market to historic St Katherine’s, Ledbury next to the 15th century Master’s House, near the High Street.

A list of 18 Ledbury producers will be there.

Nozstock: The Hidden Valley

One of the county's longest running events, Nozstock: The Hidden Valley takes place in the rolling Herefordshire countryside on the fully working Nosworthy family farm, near Bromyard.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle and boasting outstanding views of the surrounding county, the Nosworthy family have created an intimate, eccentric, and family-friendly event set to take place from July 21 to July 24.

Beer on the Wye

Beer on the Wye is Herefordshire's biggest beer and cider festival and is set to return once again to the banks of the river Wye at the city's rowing club over the weekend of the July 8 to July 10.

Last year over 6,000 people attended over the three days and drank between them over 21,000 pints.

Lakefest

Lakefest, held at Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, has said reggae and pop band UB40, Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers and Radio 1 DJ Charlie Hedges will all be featuring.

Set to be held from August 11 to 14, Lakefest said it prides itself on creating a "hugely enjoyable, family-friendly festival" where music, entertainment, family activities, fairground rides and creativity come together.

Hereford River Carnival

Hereford’s River Carnival is set to make a full-scale return this summer for the first time since 2018.

This August bank holiday Hereford’s largest, free community event returns with a splash promising more fun, feel-good vibes and entertainment than ever before.

Following the virtual Carnival in 2020, this will be the first full scale event since 2018 and will see Castle Green, Bishops Meadow, King George V Playing Fields, and all along the riverbank bubbling with excitement.

The event will launch at dusk on August 26 with a spectacular live performance along and on the river. Saturday is carnival day and will be ‘a day at the seaside’ as the carnival creates Hereford-on-Sea.

OTHER NEWS:

The legendary carnival procession will flood the streets with people and bring everyone to the river to watch the river procession.

Hereford Indie Food

The music and street food-focused Hereford Indie Food festival will return over the August bank holiday (27 and 28) in Aubrey Street in Hereford.

Hosted by A Rule of Tum, the festival will be a mix of great musical talent, street food, and local produce all hosted right in the middle of Hereford.

The festival will be held in their urban eatery and drinking area The Yard – a transformed car park behind their restaurants The Bookshop and The Burger Shop.
