HEREFORD Pride has been forced to postpone its event due to take place this summer due to lack of funding.

The event was set to be held at Hereford Racecourse in June in support of the LGBTQ+ community in the county.

A spokesperson from Hereford Pride said: “We are devastated to say that we have no choice but to postpone Hereford Pride 2022 until later in the year.

“It has not been an easy decision to make, and we apologise whole-heartedly for the impact that this may have on acts, businesses, volunteers and attendees.”

The committee has been working tirelessly to try and avoid postponing but as a not-for-profit event, a lack of funding means it needs more time to allow the event to take place, said the spokesperson.

“This is to make sure people don’t miss out on celebrating during Pride Month and to raise funds to go towards putting on Hereford Pride this coming September,” said the spokesperson.

Hay Pride, in the Herefordshire border town of Hay-on-Wye, will go ahead this Sunday (June 12).
