POLICE say two people have been arrested and released on bail after a firearms scare in Hereford.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said officers went to the Newton Farm area at around 7.30pm on Thursday, May 13.

The Hereford Times has been pressing police for an update, with officers now confirming two people were arrested after the incident in a park in the Brampton Road area.

A man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and a woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.

An imitation firearm was recovered, the spokesperson said.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident.

Both have been released on bail to return to the police station on June 10.

West Mercia Police want to hear from anyone who may have been a witness to the incident in the area of the Brampton Road Stores between 7pm and 7.30pm on May 12.
