FRIENDS of a Herefordshire woman who died are raising money for a memorial bench in her memory.

Jan Edwards was a popular member of Wye Valley Runners and was also friends with runners from across Herefordshire and beyond.

The club has plans to install a bench on Tillington Common in her memory with the permission of Burghill and Tillington Parish Council.

Jan's body found in the river Wye in Herefordshire in March after she went missing.

Over 100 people from running clubs across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Mid-Wales met at the Secret Garden pub in Munstone recently for an evening to celebrate the life of Jan.

Jan and her partner Brian loved to run the footpaths close to the villages of Lyde, Munstone and Shelwick and in tribute to Jan runners took to some of her favourite routes.

Chair of Wye Valley Runners, Paddy Nugent led the celebration telling the gathering that the running club are determined to keep Jan's legacy alive.

He said: "Jan was well known for her nurturing and enthusiastic spirit and would have relished an evening like this to savour the wonderful Herefordshire countryside.

"Tonight is a celebration of Jan and the best way we can do that as a running community is to run together."
