“I’ve spoken to Jared (Hodgkiss) and he wants to stay at the football club,” said Gowling.

“I think he’s been brilliant especially at the back end of the season, I think he’s been absolutely outstanding.

“We’re in negotiations with Jared as well. He wants to stay and I want him here. He’s been my captain since I’ve taken over and I think he’s been a real credit to the squad.

“Sop hopefully we can keep him here.”

When asked if he plans to say at the club, Hodgkiss answered: “Hopefully fingers crossed.

“I love the club. I think it’s a great club to be at. I enjoy working under the manager (Josh Gowling) and with the staff.

“Hopefully we can get it sorted.”
