HEREFORD captain Jared Hodgkiss hopes that a deal can be sorted to keep him at Edgar Street for next season.

The 35-year-old, full-back, signed for Hereford in July 2019 and has been the captain for the last two seasons under manager Josh Gowling.

Gowling has already been in discussions with Hodgkiss about him remaining at the club.

“I’ve spoken to Jared (Hodgkiss) and he wants to stay at the football club,” said Gowling.

“I think he’s been brilliant especially at the back end of the season, I think he’s been absolutely outstanding.

“We’re in negotiations with Jared as well. He wants to stay and I want him here. He’s been my captain since I’ve taken over and I think he’s been a real credit to the squad.

“Sop hopefully we can keep him here.”

When asked if he plans to say at the club, Hodgkiss answered: “Hopefully fingers crossed.

“I love the club. I think it’s a great club to be at. I enjoy working under the manager (Josh Gowling) and with the staff.

“Hopefully we can get it sorted.”
