ONE of Herefordshire's longest serving members of fire service staff has retired after more than four decades of service to his community.
John Chance, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service on-call watch commander at Ewyas Harold fire station has retired after an incredible 45 years of service.
Chief fire officer Jon Pryce said: "John is an HWFRS legend and the epitome of community service, professionalism and dedication.
"He's a true gentleman - all the best John and thank you for everything."
