THE May Fair has rolled into Leominster, with it just days until rides also pitch up in Hereford.

After being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid, the Leominster May Fair is back this week.

Showmen from all over the UK will arrive in the town to provide excitement, fun and laughter from riding the heart-stopping white-knuckle rides to bumper to bumper fun.

OTHER NEWS:

The fair is due to take place between Thursday (April 28) and Saturday (April 30).

Hereford May Fair will then take place next week from Tuesday, May 3 to Thursday, May 5.

The event has a rich tradition and a fair in Leominster can be traced as far back as the 17th century.

Another tradition that the organisers are looking to keep going is giving Herefordshire children and adults with learning and physical disabilities special access to the fair.

A spokesperson for the Morris family, who run the Leominster fair, said children and adults with any special needs or disability conditions have the freedom of the fair on Friday (April 29) at 10.30am where they can experience all the rides for free.

"Our late dad Abie Morris started this over 40 years ago and we would like to keep this tradition going," they said.

The family also said they are looking forward to welcoming the people of Herefordshire back to the fair after two years of cancelled events.

OTHER NEWS:

They added: "Due to Covid, we have not been able to bring all the joys of the fun fair for over two years, but now is the time for everyone to let their hair down and have a great time with us."

Corn Street, Victoria Street and Broad Street in Leominster will be closed until 8am on Sunday due to the fair.
