SO apparently we have too many car parks according to the consultant employed by our Green obsessed council.

Does he not realise this is a rural county where the car remains the only feasible form of transport for many?

Without car parks retail footfall in the city will drop and tourists will simply stop coming if there is nowhere to park.

Also those who drive into the city for their work will similarly have a problem.

I should also be interested to know exactly how much the council is paying David Ubaka to come up with the stunning conclusion that we need a second river crossing.

That has been abundantly clear for years to all those of us who regularly battle through the jams on the present bridge.

Indeed of course it was also a central plank of the bypass planned by the previous Conservative Council with Government money promised for its completion that the current administration saw fit to axe.
