A FOOTBALL match to raise money for a Herefordshire man with cancer has raised an "incredible" amount.

Wayne Tizzard, from Bromyard, has been raising money through a GoFundMe page to help him start pioneering cancer treatment in Spain.

Dendritic cell therapy is a modern cancer therapy which at present is unavailable on the NHS. It targets the disease by making a personalised cancer vaccine from the patient's own blood cells.

The event was hosted at Bromyard Town Football Club where Mr Tizzard, known affectionately as 'Tizer', spent time as a player.

Alongside the match on Sunday, April 17, there was a football based auction with items on offer including a football signed by Sky Sports' Soccer AM team, and a signed Harry Kane shirt.

Dean Corbett, who helped organise and coordinate the event said: "Wayne is just the nicest bloke you could ever wish to meet, and it speaks volumes for him the amount of money that has been raised for him so far.

"When we heard about Wayne's appeal for help with his treatment, we thought what better way to raise some money than through his extended football family?

"We had about 600 people down there during the day including three generations of some families. It was great to bring the Bromyard community together, and even better to raise such an incredible amount."
