DISAPPOINTED organisers have revealed they have cancelled this year's Mud Runner - with no plans to return.

Low ticket sales have forced the Mud Runner organisers to call off the 2022 event.

The annual event usually attracts hundreds of runners from across the country to Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, to take on the challenging course.

The organisers said in a statement: "Well folks it's with great disappointment that we are having to take the decision to cancel Mud Runner 2022 and sadly this time it will not be rescheduled.

"Live events are still being hit badly with slow sales so please support the ones that are still out there.

"Thank you to everyone who signed up and we are gutted to disappoint you. We are particularly gutted about all of those doing this to raise money for causes.

"This is Mud Runner signing out once and for all."

The event was scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 15 and it does not appear the race will be returning this year.

The announcement has left those who had already signed up disappointed.

Regular participant Kay Cale commented: "Loved every one of the events. Fabulous memories captured never thought I’d enjoy them as much as I did.

"Sad to see Mud Runner go from our running diaries."

Another, Sarah Bowden, wrote: "So sorry for all of you lovely organisers - these events were the best courses, the most scenic and the friendliest organisers.

"I am very sorry that you are stopping but so pleased that I have so many great memories."

Another runner, Daz Bentley, is hoping this is not the last time the race is run.

He commented: "Gutted is an understatement, I was so looking forward to this. Please, please, please reconsider in the near future."
