HEREFORD FC have signed striker Andre Wright on non-league deadline day.

The 25-year-old has signed on non-contract terms and has been challenged to impress manager Josh Gowling.

Wright started his career at West Brom Academy and had a loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Torquay and Coventry.

Wright joined Kidderminster Harriers in 2017 and has more recently been out of the first team plans at AFC Telford United.

Gowling said “People will think it's an odd signing.

"We looked at him statistics wise and what he will bring to the team, something a bit different.

"He has a lot of energy and holds the ball up well. From our point of view, we probably don’t have that.

"Miles is out for a period of time, we’ve got big Mo (Faal) and little Mo (Touray), but he is probably a bit more rough and rouged than those two.

"He's quick when he gets going, good with his back to play and will link things up.

"It's up to him now to prove he's worth being here. It's his job to train, impress and get into the team."
