  • ROLLING MATCH REPORT
  • Hereford were ahead within five minutes when Tom Owen-Evans pounced on a ball back for defender Jake Lawlor who hesitated on the ball.
  • Lawlor fouled Owen-Evans but the ball deflected to Mo Faal who steered home.
  • However, Darlington were awarded a 17th minute penalty when Camerom Thompson was clear in the box before being brought down by the advancing goalkeeper.
  • Hall redeemed himself denying Will Hatfield's penalty with a fine save.
  • Despite the two key moments the first half was one of few chances until Maziar Kouhyar twisted on the edge of the box before pulling it back to Luke Haines who blazed over.
  • The second half was a similar scenario before exploding inside the last 20 minutes.
  • The introduction of Ryan McLean saw him cut the ball back for Owen-Evans but his low effort was well blocked.
  • Darlington also provided a threat and substitute Jake Cassidy gave them a warning sign firing narrowly wide of the side-netting after running at the Hereford defence.
  • The visitors were level on 72 minutes with Jack Lambert finding space inside the box before his shot was deflected off Hereford bodies and into the net.
  • McLean looked for an immediate response picking the ball up midway in the Darlington half before going on a brilliant run weaving his way into the box and having his effort blocked.
  • Darlington then had two glorious chances to win the tie in the final minutes.
  • Firstly Lambert's low corner was flicked into a melee of players and off Luke Haines onto David Wheater's head who nodded the ball over.
  • Moments later Lambert himself had a free header but missed the target with his effort.
  • Despite Hereford throwing everything forward at the death both sides settled for a draw.
