IN response to 'Farcical Hunt' published on January 6:

Herefordshire's Boxing Day hunt meets are farcical parades

Dr PANNEL may not like hunting or Boxing Day meets and it is her right to voice those feelings but making ludicrous false claims about the hunting community is unacceptable.

The local hunting community hunt within the law and were welcomed by huge numbers of people at various festive meets conducted in and around the county.

People from all walks of life, gathered to watch hounds and horses parade through streets.

It provided a much needed local boost both socially and economically.

It is an important part of local heritage and continues to go from strength to strength.

This local newspaper has every right to print stories and cover festive meets, as it does print letters from readers supporting it.

Doing so is an important part of a free local press that is in touch with its readership.

Happy New Year to all.
