ON recent visits to supermarkets in Leominster I noted a number of people not wearing masks each time.
Presumably staff risk abuse if they challenge customers over this.
One man had his mask hanging below his chin both on walking round and at the till.
Some people might simply need a reminder.
RELEVANT NEWS:
The fact is that police can fine people for not wearing a mask in a shop and the fine for a first offence is £200 reduced to £100 if paid within 14 days.
The fine is doubled for each subsequent offence.
The fact is also that at this time of year the risks are greater than in the summer and this may be particularly true of the Omicron variant.
I suggest that a notice prominently displaying this information as you enter the premises might cause some to think twice e.g. “Not wearing a mask? You may be fined £200."
