A HEREFORDSHIRE farming business has been taken over by a Somerset firm, with the new owners praising the work of outgoing owners.

Shearwell Data, based in Minehead, said it was pleased to announce it had taken over Pyon Products, of Westhope near Hereford.

Pyon Products was established in 2015 by Gill and Alan Dickson and Shearwell Data said the firm was well-known for providing innovative product solutions for livestock management.

This includes its products the Heatwave Milk Warmer, Store and Thaw and Frisky Lamb Warmer.

Richard Webber, director of Shearwell Data Ltd said: “Pyon Products is a highly innovative business that has designed and brought to market a range of award winning and ingenious products that support livestock farming businesses.

"As a farming and family owned business, we are always looking at ways to enhance our offering to customers here in the UK and overseas.

"The acquisition of Pyon Products from Alan and Gill Dickson is an exciting next step and enables the Shearwell Data business to offer an extended range of exciting new husbandry products to our customers.

"The Pyon range will benefit from access to our extensive R&D (research and development) facility, to assist in the further development of the product range.

"The Pyon Products brand is recognised for offering quality products and good customer service – two features that align very well with the Shearwell Data business ethos.

"We look forward to growing the brand and extending the reach of these exciting products".

Pyon Products' outgoing owners Gill and Alan Dickson said: “Shearwell Data has a very similar ethos to the Pyon business, in that quality products and good customer care are of paramount importance, so we see the acquisition of Pyon business by Shearwell Data as a very positive next step.

"We are proud to have brought products to the market which have not only improved the lives of young animals but also made life easier for the farmers.

"Shearwell has a solid, practical farming background and the knowledge and infrastructure to take Pyon Products to the next level both here in the UK and overseas.”
