A MOTORCYCLIST has been banned from the roads after he was caught on the roads while six times the drug limit.

Joshua Jones admitted drug-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

Police had come up behind Jones, who was riding an orange KTM bike and pulled him over in a routine stop in Hereford's Charles Witts Avenue at around 9.15pm on May 17, prosecutor Mark Hambling said.

He was asked to take a roadside drug test and was arrested after it returned a positive result for cannabis.

An evidential test in custody revealed he had 12 microgrammes of cannabis metabolite delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The legal limit is two.

Chris Read, for Jones, said the 22-year-old had fallen into error by not appreciating the length of time cannabis remains in the system.

"He says he used it the day before and there is no criticism of his driving" Mr Read said.

"He is in receipt of benefits as he has been out of work for some time due to ill health."

Jones, of Cranstone, Breinton, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120. He must also pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
