A 'HAUNTED house' in Hereford will raise money to give an ill nine-year-old boy a better life.

Luke and Lauran Jordan will host their annual haunted house in Harvey Road, Hereford, over Halloween weekend (October 28-31) in support of Stan Wilkes, of Fownhope.

Every year Luke and Laura Jordan decorate the outside of their home with an array of spooky decorations, including coffins, graveyard headstones, witches, ghouls, cobwebs, spiders, gallows, guillotine and lights, all in support of a local charity.

"This year we are collecting for Stan," said Mr Jordan.

"He is diagnosed with a rare genetic brain disease called adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD)."

His condition has led him to become very seriously ill.

Mrs Jordan said: "All money raised will go to Stan and his family for non-standard treatment, travel expenses, bills and to make his time as special and as fun as possible."

Stan has not been able to leave home as much as his family hoped.

They hope to use some of the donations for a trip to Yorkshire in November after a summer attending many appointments while battling viruses and his deteriorating physical functions.

His mother Kath Wilkes said: "Stan is the happiest, most gorgeous little boy.

"Donations are contributing to alleviate financial pressure on our family, the daily tasks of providing Stan with the best care, specialist and play equipment he so desperately needs and deserves."

ALD affects the adrenal glands and 'white matter' of the brain, causing a progressive loss of physical and mental skills.

There is no effective treatment to reverse the damaging process.

Donations for seeing the 'Haunted House' can made through the cash on the door or the JustGiving page.
