THE cheapest car parking spots in Hereford have been revealed.

Data from car finance experts Zuto highlighted the cheapest car parking available in the city.

Zuto analysed car parks in over 40 cities across the UK to reveal the cheapest and the most expensive places to park within a 25-minute walking distance of each city centre.

1. Horse and Groom

The car park at the Horse and Groom pub on Eign Street offers the cheapest parking in Hereford.

A full day's parking costs just £3.

2. Friars Street

Friars Street car park offers the second cheapest day rate in the city, at £4 a day.

Its cheapest ticket is £1.40.

The overflow car park on St Martin's Street ranked as Hereford's third cheapest car park.

A full day's parking costs £4.50.

Located next to Hereford FC's Edgar Street ground, a full day's parking at Merton Meadow costs just £5.

Its cheapest rate is £1 for an hour's parking.

5. Wall Street

The fifth-cheapest parking spot in Hereford, the price to park for a full day at Wall Street is £6.

Wall Street's cheapest rate is £1.50 for an hour.

Parking charges in Hereford were raised earlier this year by Herefordshire Council.

Councillor John Harrington, cabinet member for infrastructure and transport, said increases were needed for a variety of reasons

He said: “We want people who come to shop or use our hospitality venues to be able to park for longer at a better price just outside the city centre – like the swimming baths – walking into town with time to dwell and spend well locally.

"Those that want to come right into the city centre, where spaces are much more in demand, will pay a little extra."
