MCDONALD'S released its new vegan McPlant burger in 250 restaurants - none of which were in Worcester.

But while we will have to wait until next year for the plant-based burger, there are plenty of places selling amazing vegan burgers in Worcestershire.

People in Worcester will have to travel to Northfield or Kings Norton to get their hands on the McPlant.

But closer to home are great vegan and non-vegan restaurants offering everything from your usual burgers to more unusual buns.

Here are the best vegan burgers in Worcestershire:

1. Vegan arches - Burger Shop, Cherry Tree Walk

A cheeky nod to the golden arches, this vegan burger features a vegan bean patty smothered in burger sauce and served with diced onion, vegan cheese, dill pickles and baby gem.

It is probably the closest to the McPlant that Worcester is going to get before 2022.

However, their vegan specials are also definitely worth a try especially the Momo Burger made of double fried Korean tofu, fermented peach ketchup and pickled plums.

It comes with a coriander and lime mayo along with Kimchi.

2. Hard to Please - Hanbao, Foregate

Hanbao is the home of exciting burgers and vegans do not have to miss out. There is the Hard to Please for vegetarians which can be made vegan.

Just ask your server to swap out the regular bun with a vegan bun.

3. Big McNamara Burger - Be the Change, New Street

Be the Change is leading the way with vegan food in Worcester with its bakery and coffee shop in Cornmarket and restaurant in New Street.

Head to New Street for the Big McNamara Burger - a homemade tender seitan, topped with cheez, b*con, lettuce, tomato and secret burger sauce.

It's one of their best-sellers.
