A Herefordshire youngster has a starring role in a Hollywood-backed children's film.

Matthew Campbell, 14, of Much Dewchurch, is a voice actor who has recently been the voice of Chase from the Paramount film PAW Patrol: The Movie.

The voice recordings take place in Gloucestershire at a studio that has specialised in this industry since 1990.

The popularity of the series led to a movie being made in 2021 by Paramount, Viacom, and Nickelodeon.

The movie was dubbed (voiced added) in June, and Matthew, who had been working with the Gloucestershire Studio on other projects, was brought in to play Chase, the leading pup of the PAW Patrol.

The UK localisation (voice dub from American to English) of the movie included Ronan Keating and Tom Fletcher, among others.

Matthew has also worked with Welsh directors on short movies alongside Welsh actors such as Lynn Hunter and Nathan Sussex.

Covid and the lockdown has pushed Matthew towards voiceover work because of the lack of filming and opportunities, said his father Martyn Campbell.

Matthew is currently pursuing his passion as a part of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

You can watch PAW Patrol to hear Matthew's voiceover talents on the Nick Junior channel and Channel 5.
