A BANNED driver was twice caught behind the wheel in a busy Hereford street.

Daniel Newman pleaded guilty to five charges when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

The court heard the 27-year-old had driven a BMW 3 Series without insurance and while disqualified in Hereford's Widemarsh Street on July 12.

He was again caught driving, this time behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf, without insurance and while disqualified in Widemarsh Street on July 27.

He was also found to be carrying a quantity of cannabis on the same date.

Newman, of Alexandra Avenue, Hereford, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and received an 18-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work and must pay costs of £135 and a £95 victim surcharge.

The cannabis was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
