WHAT a pleasure it is to see such a renewed interest in the planting of trees in our county to help towards a greener and healthier future.
However, it is noticeable that this enthusiasm is focused on the planting of deciduous trees in general.
May I draw tree planters’ attentions to the greater advantages of evergreens, including the coniferous varieties.
They carbon-fix and produce oxygen throughout the year, providing vital shelter for birds and other wildlife during cold, wet and windy winters which are prevalent in this country.
Conifers are not just for Christmas!
