A HEREFORDSHIRE man has been banned from the roads after driving while over the limit for a controlled drug.
Benjamin Bogdan of Netherton, Ross-on-Wye, pleaded guilty at Hereford Magistrates Court to driving in Broad Leys Crescent in Hereford, while over the drug drive limit.
The prosecutor, Shafquat Reaz, told the court that at 1pm on April 1, police stopped Bogdan in his Seat Leon while out on patrol.
Officers asked Bogdan to provide a roadside drug wipe, which resulted in the 21-year-old testing positive for cannabis.
He was arrested and taken into custody where he provided a blood sample.
The sample came back with a reading of 6.1 micrograms of cannabis metabolite in a litre of blood, exceeding the legal limit of 2.
George Cousins, defence solicitor, said Bogdan had used cannabis the night before he was stopped.
He said the 21-year-old had completed a safe driver course and was no longer using cannabis.
Bogdan was given a 12 month driving ban by the court and fined £300. He must also pay court costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £34.
