A PARK in a Herefordshire town centre is set to close temporarily as work is carried out by contractors.

Ledbury Town Council said the recreation ground would be closed on Monday (September 27) while work was carried out to trees.

A spokesperson said the recreation ground, often referred to as the rec, would be closed for around three hours on Monday morning.

"On behalf of Openreach, DTS Tree Services will be undertaking tree works to two lime trees which are situated opposite the skate park and children's play area," town clerk Angela Price said.

"Whilst these works take place, for the safety of the operatives and all members of the public, the area will be closed off for approximately three hours in the morning.

"The area to be closed off will be all of the skate park, the children's play area, the outdoor gym equipment and part of the town trail.

"DTS will be placing banksmen on each corner to prevent anyone entering the site once works commence."

Ms Price said the town council apologised for any inconvenience and contractors said they would "do their best" to finish work "as quickly as possible".
