HEREFORDSHIRE is a hub for independent cafés, and readers turned out in their dozens to recommend their favourite when we asked for the best in the county.
The Living Room, based in Commercial Road, appears to be an undiscovered gem, according to comments.
John Walker said: "I recently discovered The Living Room on Commercial Road. Great place to eat and support. Love their cheese and ham toastie."
The Living Room is a not-for-profit community larder, café and safe space.
They are also members of Fareshare and work with supermarkets, restaurants and local food companies to collect food surplus and combat waste.
Andrea Hipwell agreed and described its atmosphere as "brilliant."
Adding: "A great cause to support."
Café Bodega, near Hereford Cathedral, was labelled as "top class" by Michael Gore.
No.10 Church Street seemed to come out on top with multiple mentions that all received several likes of agreement.
Kenchester Water Gardens was commended for it tea rooms by Christine Gowler, she said: "Kenchester Water Gardens would take some beating, also a wide variety of food all freshly made.
Recently the tea rooms shut for two weeks.
"The owner took all her staff on holiday for all their hard work, you don't get appreciated like that in establishments," Christine said.
Wellington Gardens also had multiple mentions.
Rosie Hawkins described it as "really nice".
Toni Lee Purnell couldn't choose between Hereford bus station and JJ & Little Dots.
Multiple cafés on Church Street, Hereford were praised: La Madeleine, Moka Bar and vegetarian café Nutters.
Other establishments such as Orchard coffee house based in Gorsley, The Green Dragon Hotel on Broad Street in Hereford, The Pantry at Oakchurch, Hen and Dot Café in Flanesford Priory Goodrich, Cafe Ascari on West Street in Hereford, Cookies on Bewell Street, Gelatis in Ross-on-Wye and The Life and Soul Kitchen based in Three Elms trading estate.
Caroline Arossa left a nostalgic element, she said: "I used to love Matabeau, steamy and filled with ciggie smoke in years gone by, but a haven of tea and toast and gossip, miss it (maybe not so much the smoke)."
Matabeau shut in 2017. The Hereford Times archive held a photo of Angelo Moruzzi, who owned the cafe for a number of years until 1996, when he retired.
