AN HISTORIC Herefordshire hotel with gym and spa is on the market for the first time in three decades.

The 19th century Burton Hotel in Kington is a two storey former coaching inn with an attractive Georgian frontage and has been owned by the same family for 30 years.

It is up for sale with commercial agents Christie & Co for a guide price of £1,950,000.

Significant additions have been made to the hotel over the years, marketing agents Christie & Co said, including a two storey extension built in 2006 to house a spa and gym.

The hotel has a traditional horseshoe bar area with seating for 45 covers, coffee lounge with sofas, and the formal restaurant area capable of seating up to 45 covers and also offers conference and function room facilities.

The letting accommodation is in both the main house and the south wing, which opened in 2016.

There are sixteen recently refurbished en-suite double, twin, and family rooms in the main house and seven rooms on the ground floor of the south wing, all offering super king-size beds, a sofa bed, desk, free WiFi, television, mini fridge and complimentary tea and coffee.

In a separate bedroom block, there are three first-floor apartments with balconies. Two of the apartments comprise two double bedrooms and bathrooms and are capable of sleeping up to eight guests, Christie & Co said. The third apartment has one double bedroom.

Outside is a sizeable beer garden with picnic benches and on-site parking for up to 28 vehicles.

Included in the sale is the hotel's gym and spa, which features a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, treatment rooms and state-of-the-art gym equipment and has around 300 external leisure members.

There is also owners' accommodation, currently being used by staff members, and the option to purchase a separate three-bed cottage.

The hotel comprises a spacious two bedroom self contained management flat and an additional three bedroom self contained flat. Both of are currently being used by staff members.
