Sarah Bell questioning the money spent resurfacing a dead-end lane not far from her, reminded me of my own ''Why have they done that?'' four or five years ago.
Herefordshire council completely resurfaced a little used dead-end lane not far from my home.
We thought it was an error as the much busier lane that serves it had a serious pothole problem.

Apparently it was not a mistake!
Two years ago they spent more money on the same resurfaced dead-end lane and dressed it with tar and chippings.
How was this expenditure justified?
Herefordshire Council regularly plead poverty, yet still find substantial sums of money to beautifully maintain little-used roads.
Perhaps attention to the busier thoroughfares nearby would be of greater benefit.
