A HEREFORDSHIRE school has appointed a new headteacher.

Lucton School, a fee-paying schools near Leominster, has revealed Jon Tyler will take over as the new head.

Mr Tyler joins Lucton from Dauntsey's School in Wiltshire, where he served as deputy head for the past six years.

Mr Tyler said he was delighted to be appointed to a school with such a rich history and exciting future.

He said: "We are very fortunate at Lucton to have fabulous surroundings, excellent facilities and wonderful staff.

"It's very important to me that every student is able to enjoy their time here and achieve their full potential in every respect.

"I am determined we deliver the best all-round education both inside and outside the classroom."

Chair of governors, Dr Anthony Paterson, said: "We were impressed by Jon's vision for building further upon the excellent history we have here at Lucton.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have him on board. With a new bursar and head of admissions as well, this is an exciting time for Lucton.
