A MAN phoned police and threatened to stab his neighbour after becoming fed up with his behaviour, a court has heard.

Tyler Dean Maddocks admitted making a threatening communication to cause distress or anxiety to police when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

Maddocks whose home shares a wall with his neighbour, had walked past the neighbour and heard him say "look at the state of him" to a companion at around 8pm on June 22, prosecutor Melanie Winterflood said.

He had gone inside his home without replying, but when he did, he heard banging and shouting start from next door.

The 27-year-old had called police and said he did not want to murder anyone, but that he was going to stab his neighbour.

Police responded, and in interview with officers, Maddocks said he had flipped after being harassed by his neighbour for months, telling them that his neighbour would regularly bang on walls and shout in his home.

Marilena Di Vitantonio, for Maddocks, said he had fully admitted his actions in interview.

"He had enough of this behaviour," she said.

"He has come today with many documents relating to this and he had not made the threat to the neighbour but instead went and called the police to report him as the neighbour was shouting through the wall, and then made that comment to the call handler.

"He is not somebody who gets into trouble and he can usually keep his calm, but he just got fed up on this occasion."

Maddocks, of Alexandra Avenue, Hereford, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge. He must also pay costs of £185 and a £22 victim surcharge.
