A GP surgery serving patients on the Herefordshire border is calling for an end to “unacceptable behaviour” towards its staff.

Wylcwm Street Surgery in Knighton said that throughout the Covid pandemic it had remained open to patients and would continue to offer telephone, video and face-to-face appointments, whichever is most appropriate.

It said most patients had been understanding during “difficult times”. But practice staff had “sadly experienced episodes of unacceptable behaviour” and called on its patients to work with the surgery.

“While we appreciate how hard this has been for us all, and how frustrating the changes have been for everyone. We urge our community to work with us to ensure that we can continue to provide care to every patient who needs care as soon as possible and in the most appropriate location, be that by telephone,

video-consultation or a face to face consultation,” it said.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone worldwide.

“For us, it has meant the extra cleaning and safety precautions necessary to keep everyone safe have imposed a significant barrier to seeing as many patients as we were previously used to seeing. On the upside, many of you will know we’ve been able to sort out many problems without needing to call people in and at greater convenience for everyone.”

The surgery said it expected everyone to be treated with respect and courtesy.
