  • ROLLING MATCH REPORT
  • Cheltenham came within an inch of the lead after just 17 seconds when former Bulls Andy Williams beat Luke Haines before chipping the ball over Brandon Hall and off the post.
  • Williams did find the net on nine minutes after Alfie May's effort was deflected into his path to slot home.
  • To make life harder against their League One opponents the Bulls were reduced to 10 men after just 10 minutes.
  • A poor George Forsyth pass found Chris Hussey who was brought down cynically on the edge of the box by Luke Haines who was shown a straight red card.
  • Despite appeals by both managers to rescind the red card the referee stood by his initial decision.
  • Life was made worse for Hereford on 14 minutes when Williams was found in acres of space out wide before slotting past Hall.
  • The contest looked to be ended three minutes later when Brandon Hall was caught coming out of his net after collecting a loose ball and Alfie May chipped the ball into an empty goal.
  • May was guilty of being too casual on 28 minutes dinking the ball past Hall but Mitch Hancox was on hand to clear the ball from under the bar.
  • Hall was next to save the Bulls saving a May header down low from a Sean Long cross.
  • Cheltenham made it 4-0 on 41 minutes when a quick move saw May find Liam Sercombe who took a touch before picking his spot.
  • May then scored two further goals within five second half minutes.
  • Firstly he received the ball inside the box and slid the ball into the bottom corner.
  • Just five minutes later May ran into the box beating several players before rounding Brandon Hall and sliding home.
  • Williams eventually got his hat-trick sliding home on 72 minutes after a well worked Cheltenham move.
  • The former Hereford United could have had another moments later but saw his effort glance off the top side of the bar.
  • Substitute Felix Miles also had the chance to make it eight but skied his effort from inside the box.
  • With three minutes remaining Cheltenham made it eight with after Hall saved the initial Freestone header a trialist scored the rebound.
  • In the last play of the match Ben Pollock pulled a goal back for Hereford heading a free-kick home.
