There’s just a week left to nominate your care hero for this year’s Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards.

Two of last year’s winners, Diane Newman from Aspire Living, Chatsworth Care Home, who received the Palliative/End of Life Award and Dr Ritesh Dua, GP partner of The Weobley and Staunton on Wye surgeries, winners of the GP Practice award, reveal what the win meant to them.

Diane Newman said that she had been “completely overwhelmed and emotional” that one of her colleagues had taken the time to recognise her work. “I was so humbled and honoured to receive the award.

“I feel that to have recognition for work undertaken in the social care sector is so vitally important. The professionalism and expertise of staff and teams should be celebrated, and individuals recognised for their work, dedication and commitment. I will most certainly be nominating my colleagues because they continue to deliver outstanding work to promote independence, involvement, and inclusion.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the Hereford Times and all that are involved in the Health & Social Care awards. You are truly making a difference. “

For Dr Ritesh and the team at Weobley and Staunton on Wye surgeries, the win “gave us validation and boosted our confidence. The awards are an acknowledgement of a job well done and justification for all the hard work done by our team.”

  • The Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards, presented in conjunction with the University of Worcester, will be hosted online by TV’s Dr Dawn Harper, on Thursday, October 21.
