A MAN has been sent to prison after attacking a woman while subject to a suspended sentence.

David John Parkes was found guilty in his absence by magistrates in Redditch after previously pleading not guilty.

The court heard the 38-year-old had breached the terms of a ten-week suspended sentence imposed by magistrates in July 2019 by assaulting a woman by beating in Hereford on June 7.

Magistrates said the offence was serious, activating the suspended sentence and handing Parkes a further eight-week sentence, to be served concurrently.

Parkes, of Abberley Street, Dudley, must also pay a £128 victim surcharge.
