DRAINAGE works will close a road near Leominster during weekdays next month.

Herefordshire Council said the B4362 near Lucton School would be closed from Monday, August 9 to and including Friday, August 13.

The closure would be from 9am until 5pm each day, contractor Balfour Beatty Living Places said in a letter to local residents.

A decision notice said the closure was needed for drainage works.

"The fully signed diversion route for cars/LGVs is via the B4362, B4361 Leominster, A44, B4529, B4360 Kingsland, A4110 Mortimer’s Cross, B4362 and vice versa," the letter to locals said.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. At Balfour Beatty we work in partnership with Herefordshire Council to minimise the impact of our work and try to keep all disruption to a minimum – we appreciate your patience.

"We may need to change the programme of work in certain circumstances, such as bad weather.

"We’ll make sure we highlight all changes on advance warning signs, which you’ll find onsite at the roadworks."
